Breast Implants Surgery
According to Dr Rahdon, breast augmentation surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries performed today. The look of their breasts is very important to women and their self-esteem. With the improvements to implants and techniques for the surgeries, reductions in the incidence of complications, shorter hospital stays and recovery times, women are feeling more comfortable committing to breast augmentation surgery.
Do you feel like you need a change? Are your breasts too small? Maybe you don’t feel balanced that one may be bigger than the other or may be some droop has set in as you aged or may be it is that you crave the perkier breasts of your youth.
We can help, we already have many happy clients following their successful breast augmentation surgery and maybe it is a solution that will help restore you confidence and put the spring back in your step.
What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation works to enhance the size of a woman’s breasts, address slight sagging, boost firmness and to enhance the shape by using implants. A similar procedure may be used to recreate a breast after a mastectomy.
During your consultation with Dr Rahdon you will talk about all of the possibilities and some of the questions that you will be prompted to answer are;
- Approach under the breast, through the armpit or around the areola
- The size of the implant including volume, projection, height and width
- Are you a Suitable Candidate for Breast Implants?
- Saline filled or cohesive silicone gel filled implants
- Textured surface or smooth implants
- Round or teardrop (anatomical) shaped implants
- Placement of the implants in front or behind the pectoral muscle
When you have a consultation with Dr Rahdon you will be encouraged to talk to him candidly about the size and shape that you would like to achieve with a breast augmentation surgery. Also taking into consideration what amount of cleavage would you like and where is the ideal position for your nipple. You will look at the range of implants available and decide together which is the ideal one for you.
The procedure is usually a day surgery that takes about 1.5 hours under general anesthesia, sometimes an overnight stay is warranted.
What is the Recovery Time following Surgery?
You will need to wear a soft bra in the few days following the procedure, as you will feel a bit sore. A week off work is a good idea so that you can rest and no excessive exercising for at least 4 weeks. You may have a small amount of bruising or swelling but it will disappear within several weeks and Dr Rahdon will give you medication for pain relief when you leave the hospital.
What about scarring?
There are a couple of options for the placement of the scar and Dr Rahdon will talk you through these during your consultation – in the fold under the breast, around the edge of the nipple or in the underarm.
What are the Potential Risks and Complications?
It is rare to experience complications during breast implant surgery and Dr Rahdon can offer you extra support because all of his surgical procedures are conducted in modern hospital facilities and not in a private surgery – so support is available if it is needed.
Complications are not unknown but are rare for breast implant surgery. Our surgeries are all performed in modern hospital facilities rather than a doctor’s office, which can provide you with confidence in case of difficulty.
During your consultation and again before your surgery Dr Rahdon will talk you through the potential risks until he is comfortable that you are fully informed before you consent to the surgery. Dr Rahdon operates on the principle that cosmetic surgery is not for everyone and will not perform a surgery if he doesn’t believe that it provides considerable benefit for the patient.
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for cosmetic surgery and Dr Rahdon will not perform a surgery unless he is convinced that the benefits significantly outweigh the risks for the patient.
